The Slick ‘n’ Knobbly Cycling Festival 2009

The inaugural Gateway Cycles Youth Challenge took place on Sunday 12th July. Thirty keen, up and coming young cyclists braved the early morning downpour and were rewarded with sunny blue skies and a fantastic days racing around a twisty, testing dirt crit course.

Thanks to all the young riders who took part and made an exciting day of racing for all the spectators, we hope you enjoyed this very different type of race format and will come back again next year. Thanks to all the parents for supporting their children and our event and for all your help throughout the day.

And of course a great big thank you to Gateway Cycles in Abergavenny and Buff for providing the fantastic prizes; Welsh Cycling for supporting the event; Abergavenny RC for their support and a great turn out of riders; Glanusk Estate for such a fantastic venue; Quaver catering for keeping everyone fed and watered and Epic Cycles for organising a very successful Devil Ride sportive.

For more information about youth racing, training, skills coaching or cycling in the Crickhowell area, why don’t you visit Welsh Cycling or Abergavenny RC. We’ll be adding more info about next year’s event later in the year, but if you want to get in touch before then, please send us an email: contact@sipevents.com
